2015 was an exceptional growing season—perfect for making this lovely Petite Sirah wine. The grapes were crushed and the wine left on the skins following fermentation. This process gave the wine its ruby hue and rich mouth feel. When the tannins became mellow and balanced, the wine was pressed off the skins, and transferred to barrels, where it aged 21 months in new oak. A combination of Hungarian, French and American Oak barrels were used.
These 2015 vintage grapes are exclusively from SANDOR VINEYARDS, tucked against the Chiricahua Mountains, adjacent to Turkey Creek. While the daytime temperatures often reach 100 degrees, the mountain shadows and prevailing South wind help to cool the vines at night. Vineyard owner John Kovacs, planted these Petite Sirah vines with sipping wine in mind.
